Lightning is a electrostatic discharge phenomenon, usually carrying millions of volts of voltage from the cloud to the ground or another cloud. It is usually divided into direct lightning, conducted lightning, and induced lightning. During the transmission process, lightning will generate an electromagnetic field in the air, inducing thousands of volts of voltage (i.e. surge) to the power line and generating induced current transmitted to several miles away. These indirect attacks usually occur on outdoor exposed wires, such as street lights, traffic lights, base stations and other equipment that emit surges.
