Solar street light power supply has been around for many years

Up to now, solar street light power has been used in China for about ten years. Power supply, power drive, heat dissipation technology and optical technology have new breakthroughs every year. However, some basic technologies have not been processed in China. Lightning protection of LED street lights is one of the things that need to be done.
 

A lightning strike is an electrostatic discharge that typically sends millions of volts of current from a cloud to the ground or another layer of cloud. During transmission, the lightning will generate a magnetic field in the air, causing thousands of volts of voltage (i.e., surge protection) on the power lines and generating induced currents that can be transmitted to areas several miles away. This indirect attack typically occurs when outdoor exposed power lines, such as lights, traffic lights, communication base stations, and other equipment send surge protection. Surge protection modules directly respond to the surge protection effects of power lines in front of the power circuit. It transfers or absorbs surge energy to minimize the surge threat to other working circuits, such as AC/DC power devices in LED lighting fixtures.

For solar street light power, lightning will cause an inductive current surge to the power grid. This surge energy will cause a sudden wave in the cable, namely the surge wave. The surge is spread by this induction method. The surge wave from the outside will cause a peak on the sine wave of the 220V cable. When the peak enters the street light, it will destroy the LED street light circuit. Solar street light power supply has been around for many years. Why do street lights need lightning protection now? In fact, the metal halide lamps and traditional mercury lamps used in the past were designed with high-voltage bulbs, and the high-voltage bulbs themselves have a lightning protection effect. In recent years, LED lamps have gradually emerged. LED lamps require a smaller power supply voltage and are generally driven by using a power supply to convert AC power into DC power. This makes the lightning protection of LED street lights no longer exist, so it is necessary to design a lightning arrester for street lights.
 

The importance of street light lightning protection lies in the definition of payback time. Because the price of solar street light power supply is about twice that of traditional street light, and the government's investment in the initial purchase is relatively large, it is necessary to gradually recover the cost by saving electricity expenditure during the operating period. Therefore, the service life of LED lights is very important. If the LED light fails within the payback period before the cost is recovered, additional money will be used for maintenance, and the cost of maintenance is twice that of installation. Therefore, in the era of LEDs, in order to achieve the actual effect of energy saving and cost-effectiveness, it is necessary to ensure that the service life of the LEDs can meet your expectations, that is, the shelf life of the product should be long. In order to reduce costs and ensure that the street lights will not be damaged within the investment return period, it is necessary to improve stability. This requires adding power lightning arresters to solar street lights to maximize effectiveness.
